Where an existing slab is too damaged, uneven, or weak to polish, a polished screed overlay gives a comparable finish without replacing the floor. We lay a new cementitious screed over the existing surface, then grind and polish it in-house, so one team delivers the whole system.
Polished screed is also used where a specific colour or aggregate is needed that the existing concrete cannot achieve.

Because it often uses the slab already in place, it avoids the materials and waste of a new floor covering. It’s highly durable, meaning it needs replacing less often than other flooring types, and it’s easy to recycle at the end of its long lifespan.
Its reflective surface can also reduce lighting needs in large spaces, and its high thermal mass makes it well suited to underfloor heating.
A correctly specified polished concrete floor is not slippery in normal, clean, dry conditions. Despite its appearance, it has a very rough surface at a microscopic level, giving it much more friction than other flooring types such as tiles.
As with any hard floor, spills, dust, and contaminants increase slip risk, so regular cleaning matters.
Polishing an existing slab is usually measured in days rather than weeks, depending on the area, finish and repairs needed.

It’s important to reseal your polished concrete floors regularly to preserve and protect them. How often you should do this depends on your individual circumstances, but every two to five years is usually sufficient.
Polished concrete floors in high-traffic locations will need to be resealed more regularly than those that are used less frequently. Similarly, if you use your polished concrete floors to store heavy equipment or caustic chemicals, you’ll need to reseal them more often.
Another factor that can influence how often you’ll need to reseal your polished concrete floors is the climate. This is because exposure to any kind of intense weather, including high humidity, can impact the life of your floor. As concrete is porous, the freeze-thaw cycle can cause cracks and degradation of your polished concrete floors. Resealing them regularly can help to prevent this.
