BRIEF DESCRIPTION

A Lancashire based global engineering manufacturer contacted Quest to advise of the best solution to refurbish their floors.

The existing resin floor coatings had become subject to damage through daily usage and heavy traffic. The flooring had become expensive to maintain and a practical and long-lasting surface was required to withstand the daily rigours of the environment.

OVERVIEW

Initially Quest carried out a site survey and recommended a 150m2 site sample of grinding, dye application and polishing. After a successful three-month trial period of daily use, Quest were asked to carry out a further 1600m2 of floor area throughout the factory.

The SIG CDF floor system was specified by Quest, which involved a composite of concrete densifiers, dyes, repair mortars and a stain protection system to fit the brief. Quest began preparing the existing substrate by diamond grinding to remove the existing resin coating on the roadways. Fast cure materials were used for minor concrete repairs, applying a grey coloured dye and polishing the underlying concrete. Finally, an application of a sub-surface penetrable sealer was used to protect the floor, providing a highly durable solution and protection from industrial grade oils and grease.

Quest used a variety of specialist machinery such as HTC 800 HDX, HTC 650 HDX, HTC 10 & 15iAD Vacuum system, HTC 270 Edge machine and 25D Vacuum System, all using HTC diamond grinding heads an floor cleaning machines to carry out the work.

RESULTS

All the works were carried out in a live environment, with some areas being completed at weekends.
