Quest was contacted by a main contractor and asked to tender for works on a public sector project for a plant room at a University campus for the installation of a heavy-duty resin based system.
The flooring was required to be non-slip, easy to clean and durable and Quest were specified to apply 2 coats of RSL Resucoat ™ HB epoxy resin with scatter for hard wearing and safety purposes.
The first stage was to mechanically prepare the existing concrete substrate using the 415v HTC grinder with soft bond diamonds as the existing concrete was extremely hard. This was connected to a HTC 415v vacuum to clean all areas and provide a dust free operation.
The first coat of RSL Resucoat™ HB epoxy was roller applied onto the prepared concrete substrate and cured before the second coat was applied with the inclusion of an aggregate to produce the required anti-slip, durable finish.
Due to the nature of the layout extra care had to be taken in and around machines and pipework throughout the job. To enable this Quest used a wide range of machinery that included small hand-held angle grinders to reach into tight spaces.
Overall the job provided Quest with many challenges working in tricky areas working in and around small, hard to reach spaces, water tanks and multiple pipes which made the job more time consuming.
Quest finished the entire project in just 3 days; with all materials for the 300m2 floor space.
The main contractor was very happy with the results of the final installation, versatility, and overall service received from Quest.
